Do fireworks, legendary parties and endless fun interest you? If so, you're in luck because May Long Weekend or as we like to call it "May Two-Four" is right around the corner! In honour of Queen Victoria's birthday this nation wide holiday is the weekend we Canadians kick off cottage season, kick back and relax or in other cases party like there is no tomorrow. With an extra day off that gives us an excuse to hangout with friends, take our first trip to the beach or even attend opening weekend at some of the best amusement parks in the country. What are your plans this weekend? If you haven't got any maybe these 4 renowned Victoria Day Weekend festivities are close enough for you to enjoy:
1. Las Vegas, NV
Las Vegas is an exciting spot all year round but what makes it our #1 spot to travel for May Long Weekend is the Exodus Festival. 2014 will be Exodus' 5th year being held in Las Vegas and is always a hit. Many Canadians look forward to the long weekend all year just because they are waiting for Exodus. Names like Tommy Trash, Steve Aoki, Avicii and Tiesto will be taking the stage all day and all night. This festival runs through 5 exclusive night clubs and 4 pool parties during May 15th- 19th. Don't miss out on the party!
2. Niagara Falls, ON
Niagara is world renowned of course for the falls, but what some of you may not know is the festivities that are held for May Long Weekend at Clifton Hill. Clifton Hill is located just above the falls and has tremendous restaurants, haunted houses, bowling alleys even a Ripley's Believe it or Not museum and of course night clubs. Clifton Hill is a prime location for fun during the day with the fam as there are all day passes that include entrance to selected spots on the hill (including indoor skydiving) and is also a great place to branch off with your friends at night to party along the strip with the thousands of people who gather here every year for Victoria Day Weekend.
3. Wasaga Beach, ON
Slip on your Kalloné bikini and swim trunks! Wasaga is the destination to flaunt your best swimwear, drink some beer, play some beach volleyball or go for a bike ride on the paved trails. As the largest fresh water beach in the entire world I'm sure you can imagine the amount of beach bums that flock here every year for May Two-Four. This year you'll especially want Wasaga to be your destination of choice for Victoria Day as they are hosting their first annual Electric Elements concert. Catch some rays and a night of some of the best names of EDM music this Sunday May 18th!
4. Victoria, BC
#4 on our list is Victoria, BC. What better place to celebrate the birthday of Queen Victoria other than the city named after her? Festivities over the weekend include the Island Farms 115th Victoria Day Parade, the Selkirk Waterfront Festival, the McPherson outdoor film festival and some of the best outdoor concerts of the summer. Have a fantastic weekend with the family celebrating with great company, food, music, film and a drink or two!
